Fossils - part of the natural history collection

over 900 items, several different sources, many believed to be local but most lacking site sources.

The objects were only formally accessioned and given an object number begin with the letter F in 1978, (see Accession Registers). There have been no further accessions since 1978. There are index cards but no photographs have been taken and nothing added to the Modes database.

The single largest group (F577-F770) was the bequest of I. L. Magson of Littleborough, which came to Towneley along with other rocks and minerals in 1952.
