The Jacobean staircase

The Jacobean staircase runs up the second floor of the North Tower. The North Tower was built around 1620 and the staircase is not thought to have change since then. It was named the Oak Stairs an inventory dated 1871. See The North Tower Staircase in Chapter Two of "An Architectural History of Towneley Hall" by W. John and Kit Smith, published by Heritage Trust for the North West in 2004.
