Index Cards

According to wikipedia, an index card consists of thick paper cut to a standard size and used to record and store small amounts of discrete data. Museums have for a long time used index cards, also known as catalogue cards to record more detailed information about each of their museum objects than is recorded in their accession registers.

Towneley started to create index cards in the 1970s and cards exist for the following collections

The index cards were mostly not added to after the 1990s with the intention of relying on a collections management system.
